After classical and jazz studies Béla Szakcsi Lakatos Jr won an award at the Kalis International Jazz Piano Competition in 1993. In 1996 he formed his own quartet, which he has been leading ever since. They have appeared at several clubs and festivals in Hungary. With his Bop-Bee trio they also received invitations to play at European festivals. Szakcsi Jr. has played with famous jazz artists, such as Tony Lakatos and Rick Margitza and besides well-known Hungarian jazz musicians like Hárs Viktor and Téli Márta he has also recorded with John Patitucci and Jack DeJohnette.
