Mihály Borbély Quartet
Feat. Robin H. Ashe Roy (UK) - flute Borbély Mihály - saxophones, flutes
Szabó Dániel - piano Horváth Balázs - double bass Baló István - drums The band was founded five years ago by Mihály Borbély who is equally versatile in folk and world music, in jazz and contemporary music and includes musicians with similar spirit and taste. The improvisational music they play is an amalgam of various styles of jazz and the ethno-musicological heritage of the Carpathian-Basin and the Balkans saturated by interesting melodic variations, now by finely transparent, other times by powerful rhythmic patterns. The band - based on the accomplishments of 2004 - was the winner of 'eMeRTon Award' as the 'Jazz Group of the Year'. Robin Ashe-Roy hails from London where he has been a long time member of the British jazz scene. In addition to performances with his band 'Natural Signs' at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Robin has appeared at the Brecon, Bracknell, Stratford and JVC London festivals. |
